Chief Minister and the Opposition leader will meet the Prime Minister on Vizhinjam project

An all-party team led by the Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, and the Opposition leader, Mr Oommen Chandy, will meet the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, in New Delhi on August 31 and urge him to expedite clearance to the proposed international container transhipment terminal at Vizhinjam, near here.

The Minister for Ports, Law and Youth Affairs, Mr M. Vijayakumar, told newspersons here on Tuesday that already a delegation of Members of Parliament from Kerala already met the Prime Minister on Monday and apprised him of the importance of the project for the State. The delegation included the Union Ministers, Mr E. Ahamed and Mr Vayalar Ravi, and the former Chief Minister, Mr A.K. Antony, and Dr Singh's response was positive, he added.
