Vizhinjam port bidding deadline extended by one month

Posted on 18 Jul 2011

The state government has extended the date for receiving bids for the construction of an international container transhipment terminal at Vizhinjam by one month to enable the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) to enter the fray, reported The Hindu.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that the last date for submitting bids had been extended to August 15 following a request from the SCI.

“The bids received were due to be opened on Friday when the SCI expressed willingness to participate. The government feels that the public sector corporation should be allowed to bid for the prestigious project. That is why the last date has been extended,” Chandy said.
