THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State government was forced to withdraw its notification regarding takeover of land for the proposed port at Vizhinjam because the “nexus between the CPI(M) and the land mafia” was exposed, DCC president V.S. Sivakumar has said.


The ‘Janakeeya Prathirodha samithi’ has, in a press note issued here demanded that action be taken against KITCO for conducting an “unscientific survey” of the land to be taken over. The Samithi welcomed the government move to cancel the notification. The residents of Venganoor, Vizhinjam, Kottukal, Kanjiramkulam and Thirupuram panchayats were a relieved lot, it added.
