Supporters of Janapaksham, a people's movement, staged a daylong protest hunger strike Wednesday about 100 meters from the venue where Prime Minister Manmohan Singh took part in a foundation stone laying ceremony here. The protest was to draw the prime minister's attention to the plea to clear the Vizhinjam Port project, which has been hanging fire for several months.
